Yesterday, I went along to find out more about Susie K Brooks AIP and to experience some of the work that she does with her clients to help with anxiety, trauma, PTSD and more.
First of all, what a beautiful location overlooking rolling hills and fields. Instantly, the view leaves you feeling relaxed, at ease and wowed by the scenery. A perfect place to see clients.
I got to experience IEMT(Integral Eye Movement Therapy) which is often, but not necessarily, used for trauma/PTSD which may have even happened back in childhood. The technique process works with negative pictures, negative emotions, and flashbacks. IEMT is a fantastic and powerful tool for recognising your identity, not only how you feel but who you are.
Having experienced this, I felt such a sense of relief and suddenly, things became very clear...
The other therapy that blew me away and gave me great focus and clarity was the MoM (Metaphors of Movement) used for things such as: if you are messing life up, living in loops going round and round and unable to get out. The sense of feeling 'stuck'.
Coming up with a metaphor for where I was, was really interesting and 'boy oh boy' did reality hit! I pictured myself in the woods alone surrounded by trees everywhere and pathways which brought up interesting and truthful facts as to why I was there in that metaphor. Thank you for this Susie.
On my drive home, I spoke with Sarah Marsh-Collings telling her about my experience of MoM therapy, as she had MoM therapy with Susie some time back. After I spoke about my experience, Sarah told me about her previous Metaphor experience.
Later that evening, when we spoke, Sarah thanked me as by talking about my MoM, she began to reflect on her own current metaphor where she 'was sitting on a deserted flat beach, with the water extending out flat in front of her, with a pinkish-beige skyline. She’s now booked another MoM session with Susie to explore her metaphor and move herself forward!

I have had two sessions with Susie, so far. I had been advised that her ability to help clients address trauma would suit my needs. That advice was well-given. As I have grown older, there are a couple of instances of what I now realise were deeply traumatising experiences that were hurting me more and more. They were tackled and their grip on me greatly diminished (to the point where their sting has gone) with remarkable speed early in the first session, with another addressed early in the second session. Outside of those needs, I had other issues and the questions and fresh perspectives Susie provided have been what I needed. I like the fact that Susie is clear about what she can and cannot do. I believe she can do a great deal, and that I have probably only scratched the surface of that as yet.

Susie helped me out of a really negative mindset whilst feeling a bit lost between jobs. Susie is one of the most calm, nurturing and kind people I have ever met who never judges you and will do everything she can to make you feel better. She is so committed to her role and I couldn't recommend her enough!

Please accept my wholehearted thanks for helping my daughter on the train last night. She has suffered anxiety in the past and I was very concerned how she would cope having seen that incident. You honestly were amazing - a real angel in a frightening situation. Thank you so very much.

Susie!
You're amazing! In just two hours you worked with me in the most kind and gentle way.... And very subtle too, as I didn't realise what was happening at the time. As we discussed, my Parents sent me to boarding school, but actually it wasn't to get me away from home, it was done on the recommendation of a school teacher with the best intentions, naturally! But that was when I put up the safety barrier against showing my hurt and I'd kept that same protection barrier for all these years against other events, and now it is coming down and I can feel it. It's gradual and every time another piece falls away, a self healing occurs, no more hip pain and a release of what felt like crystallised bone in my left foot! And I do believe this is just the beginning of my new sense of freedom.
Thank you so much Susie for your loving healing, empathy and support in renewing my life.

Susie worked with my to son to improve his confidence and deal some phobias around eating and flying. She was incredibly kind and with her life experience and understanding of teenagers she has made such a positive impact. I can recommend Susie to anyone who is looking to change negative thought processes or to overcome personal challenges. Just one session with Susie has made such a big difference to my sons life. Thanks Susie for all of your help. The work you do is so important.

I had a lifetime working in defence and security. I had also taken part in Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief work in Thailand and the Philippines. The work, whilst very rewarding, was very harrowing. The experience left me emotionally drained and mentally exhausted. At the time I felt that I could cope and didn’t need any counselling or help. Typically male, I pushed all my feelings deep down inside of me and tried to forget them and “just get on with it”. Years past by and the sights and experiences I went through starting to come to the surface. I found it difficult to sleep; I had flashbacks, mood swings and I became difficult to live with. I turned to drink, in a subconscious effort to self medicate. In the end I was crying for no apparent reason and realised, with the help of my wife, that I needed help. I went to my GP who diagnosed me with PTSD and recommended Susie. Seeing Susie was the best thing I could have done. She was/is friendly professional, understanding and doesn’t judge. Her focus is on getting you better ASAP. She was confident, after our first session, that she would be able to help. Susie was absolutely right and after more sessions and some things to do at home if I felt I was struggling, I have recovered. I still, on odd occasions, have a wobble when something triggers a memory, but I just carry out the process Susie taught me and I am fine. I can’t recommend Susie highly enough. If you are struggling, especially if you have PTSD, get in touch with Susie. It will be the first step in your recovery and the way back from some of the dark places we all find ourselves in, from time to time.
From John Blagden, IEMT for PTSD
To Susie K Brooks
It’s taken a while for me to work out what I want to say about Susie Brooks. She’s actually changed my life quite a bit with only one visit.
Due to something going wrong during a very routine coronary angioplasty and stent insertion, where I was 100% awake, I had a pretty bad heart attack whilst on the operating table. I’m a pretty calm person and realised there was nothing I could do and so left the panicking to some of the hospital staff around the room. They’d accidentally pushed through the left main artery where it joins the circumflex artery and the heart attack was caused by them having to rapidly block the arteries to repair them.
This was six years ago and I tended to wake up several times a week after that with a recurring image in my head of what I could see around the side of a huge camera in front of my face pointing downwards into my chest, basically the TV screens showing high contrast live video of what was happening to the blood around my heart. I usually didn’t really get much sleep after one of these.
I’d met Susie at Business over Breakfast (BoB) in Canterbury, as I’d recently moved to that part of Kent. BoB is a business networking group but, like most similar groups, they encourage members to meet outside the regular gatherings in order to find out more about their business. This is referred to as a 1-2-1.
Susie went through some of the techniques she uses and I found them fascinating. However I was mainly intrigued about her use of hypnosis. I’ve never had anyone try hypnotising me and thought it would be interesting to see if I was a good or bad subject. I do transcendental meditation and wondered if clearing my mind would make me easily succumb. Lying in one of the most comfortable reclining chairs I’ve ever been in and going through the familiar process of thinking of nothing, I could hear Susie’s voice going through a sequence of phrases, but when she checked to see if I was under I obviously wasn’t.
Then Susie asked me if I had anything that was worrying me, and I described the waking pattern of remembering what went on during my heart operation and then not being able to get back to sleep. Looking at the information on Susie’s site I’m pretty sure she used IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) with me, which took literally only a few minutes of her giving me some simple instructions and me following them, mainly with my eyes. I won't describe the process further as I might interfere with someone else's treatment, but it was totally painless, very simple to follow, and I could see the progress as it happened.
Susie explained that traumatic memories don’t get processed properly by the brain, and can bring back negative thoughts with very little warning even years later. Whatever IEMT does or how exactly it does what it does, it certainly worked for me and since then I’ve had no wakeful moments due to that image in my head that plagued me for six years. In fact, I have difficulty bringing the image into my head and holding on to it, although I probably don’t try too hard!
I have no hesitation in recommending Susie if you or someone you know is worried or badly affected by something. She’s incredibly easy to talk to and makes it feel like you’ve known her for ages.
I can’t say thank you enough Susie.

I highly recommend Susie K. She cares deeply about the well being of the people she sees and has the complete skill set to help them accomplish what is required.

I recommended Susie to a close family member who was struggling with where they are going in life and dealing with other people. After a couple of sessions he now has a much more positive outlook on life and is making plans. I would highly recommend Susie to anyone with issues that seem to large and too difficult to cope with alone.

I was extremely anxious about seeing Susie and wasn’t if sure she could help.
I had had many years of therapy and also Inpatient treatment.
I honestly thought I couldn’t be helped, but I had heard about Susie and thought I would give her a go.
Well, I had one session with Susie and it was amazing. All the years of counselling and therapy I had had, hadn’t helped, and just one session with Susie changed my life.
My anxiety was a 10/10 when I saw her, when I left it was a 0.
My anger was 10/10 when I started, it then went down to a 0.
The guilt I felt was 10, then then it fell to 0 and all my negativity had disappeared.
It was as if she had performed a miracle.
The next day I woke up feeling good, happy, fantastic, and the day after that and the day after that & the next day & the next day. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and 7 months on I am still happy.
Magic happens - Susie’s therapy works.
Amazing, like a magic trick but this is real.

Having experienced a very traumatic event in my life 9 years ago, I've lived with flashbacks ever since. The trauma also presented itself as anger when I felt under pressure or stressed. I had tried conventional therapy, but the results for me were short lived. I was so desperate to find a different way to help me come to terms with the trauma and stop reliving it everyday. After some research I came across EMDR which treats PTSD. I was very keen to try it and that's when I found Susie. After just one session, I was absolutely blown away at how the once very vivid memory, was already beginning to fade. After three sessions (and that's all it took) I now hardly think of it at all and when I do its just a distant memory with no real emotion attached to it. I can't thank Susie enough for making me feel at ease from the outset. It's down to her that I've been able to almost erase the traumatic event that has been in my head for years. She is incredibly understanding, very professional and an all round lovely lady. Thank you

After only 3 sessions with Susie (2 of them even virtual due to Covid-19 restrictions!), I feel stronger in myself. We worked through some very traumatic events that I had kept locked up for many years and I am now able to ban them from my everyday thoughts. Hi Susie
Your MoM therapy tool is brilliant and it's in the best hands possible person.
Thank you for the amazing session of Metaphors of Movement. It shows that even a positive metaphor can be a starting point for bringing out issues in life.
It is true that past few months have been stressful for me... When I began reflecting on the session and the questions that it revealed in front of my eyes... quite literally, I could see how my attitude of coping with stress had actually placed a barrier that restricted my progress.
Your suggestions helped me to imagine myself rising above and then crossing the barrier in front of me... I was able to move towards the door in front of the room.
The session has provided me with valuable insight and direction.
Thank you once again! Best wishes for great work ahead!
Warm regards

With only 2 therapy session, Susie helped me overcome a fear that I had my whole life.
I used to have a fear of vomit, from a childhood trauma, and I can happily say I’m not scared anymore.
She is lovely, comforting and absolutely amazing.
If you are considering therapy, or considering Susie, I would 100% say go for it. It will change your life!
She has also given me tools that I will use for the rest of my life.
Like most people, therapy made me nervous, but after a zoom with Susie, I knew she was the right person. She made the environment so calm and comfortable and it felt like sitting with a close friend.
If you have your reservations, I hope this helps you to take actions and change your life, could not recommend her enough!
Thank you Susie! xx

I can't say enough positive things about Susie and how she has helped us. The transformation we have witnessed in our daughter has been amazing. No more anger, no more refusing to go out, she's fun to be with again and she seems happy, Susie gave her back to us.
Susie was so understanding and did everything possible to persuade our daughter to get the help she needed. A major stumbling block with mental health is that the people who suffer from it refuse help, or sabotage help when it is available. Susie worked with her and created a friendship, made her feel welcome, and even baked cakes!
She has so many techniques to help, and the magic pen was amazing.
Thank you Susie, we have hope now

I can highly recommend Susie for her services as for me, she has been highly effective at helping me unpack lots of emotional baggage I had been carrying around with me for many years. Prior to seeing Susie I was sceptical about whether the techniques she uses would work on me......................They definitely did! In just 4 amazing sessions, my head feels clearer and more focused and I have been able to reduce the amount of medication I have been on for over 15 years and I have the confidence to come off it completely now too. The studio Susie works from at her home, provides a lovely relaxing environment with the most amazing view over the Kent countryside. The first step to a better life is to learn the tools to look after yourself mentally. In my experience Susie can definitely help you to find the tools and start that better life. Don't delay, contact Susie today!

From the very start I found myself at ease with Susie. She was easy to talk to and we got on great. Had 4 sessions with her to sort out my insomnia and other problems and with my last session today felt a lot more lighter and stronger than I was 4 weeks ago. After having a very negative experience with counselling, I plucked up the courage to speak to Susie in an attempt to get some help with a series of traumatic experiences impacting my life in a severe way.
From the first phone call, I felt at ease and that Susie was invested and confident that help and support could be offered to change my life.
After completing three sessions, Susie did what two months of counselling couldn’t.
Completing the therapy put to bed unresolved trauma and enabled me to be happy again. more motivated and ready to move forward in my life.
Susie has changed my life for the better and given my ways to deal with future anxieties. I couldn’t recommend her enough.

I want to absolutely thank you for helping me to help myself this afternoon. It was not what I was expecting at all, and neither was the feeling of elation I felt when I left The Oasis, not understanding why.
Everything they had said to me made sense, but it kept coming back - that was until I came across the amazing Susie K Brooks!!
Susie is the most approachable and understanding person that I have ever met. She helped me go back to where my first ever memorable feeling of anxiety came from and together, we looked at it. Susie helped me to understand it, it was then that with her therapies I turned my back on it and moved forward to the present day standing stronger and straighter. It was an incredible feeling, and with the help of the beautiful surroundings of her "therapy" room, I felt as though I had conquered something huge, which I had, and still have!!
She has changed my life on a day to day basis - I cannot recommend her enough.
With the angst of anxiety behind me, I realised that I was also suffering with nightmares from my past. I came back to Susie because I trust her, not just with how to help with my symptoms, but because she would never look on me with pity or with £’s signs in her eyes, just as a compassionate human wanting the best for me. It goes without saying that she used her amazing techniques to stop me seeing my dreams, and therefore dreaming them!! Thank you Susie, for being a very unique lady with a gift to change lives for the absolute better, and never judging in the process xxx

I went to see Susie to overcome my long standing fear of birds. Susie used an NLP technique and I discovered where and how aged 7 and 10 my phobia was created. Having 're written' the event through my adult self's eyes I can now happily approach a group of birds and even walk through them without fear, or running in the opposite direction. This has made a huge difference to me and my family, especially as they no longer get anxious for me if we are outside. Now I have even picked up a small bird and buried it and been in with the birds at Loro Parque in Tenerife!
I would thoroughly recommend Susie as she is both professional and compassionate.

Susie helped me through a traumatic life event by showing me the coping mechanisms to remain calm and get through what was quite an ordeal. As well as this, through our two sessions of talking through things and dealing with the negative emotions I was feeling, I was able to come out the other side relatively emotionally unscathed and feel ‘normal’ again which I had not thought would be possible.
When I contacted Susie, I was very stressed out and panicking. After our first session I felt much more relaxed. Although I was still worried and nervous, I felt confident that the coping skills Susie had shown me and the release of negative emotions we had done together would see me through the troubles ahead. The physical enactment of approaching and jumping over ‘the event’ and then concentrating on and holding on to the feelings of relief and positivity I felt by doing so really worked for me as I was able to visualise that moment and hold onto those feelings when it was the real thing.
I don’t find it easy to open up to people and have always been very independent, but on this occasion I desperately needed some help. Susie’s empathy, kindness and understanding alongside the practical techniques she showed me saw me through a really tough time.
Really appreciate what you did for me Susie, thank you xx

Susie worked with my to son to improve his confidence and deal some phobias around eating and flying. She was incredibly kind and with her life experience and understanding of teenagers she has made such a positive impact. I can recommend Susie to anyone who is looking to change negative thought processes or to overcome personal challenges. Just one session with Susie has made such a big difference to my sons life. Thanks Susie for all of your help. The work you do is so important.

I had a lifetime working in defense and security.
From John Blagden 21st January 2022. IEMT for PTSD

I recommended Susie to a close family member who was struggling with where they are going in life and dealing with other people. After a couple of sessions he now has a much more positive outlook on life and is making plans. I would highly recommend Susie to anyone with issues that seem to large and too difficult to cope with alone.

Susie is a true inspiration and someone that can cure things that she can't even find she doesn't need to, she just mends in the kindest and most caring way. It's so refreshing finding someone who cares so much about their clients and wants to help them I heard someone once say about Susie "we are so lucky to have Susie as our therapist" and I don't think I can say anything that describes her better than that.

Review 25th October 2021 from Claire Hope

Thank you

Susie knows her stuff and has a caring approach to my problems. After very few sessions I feel like the fog has been lifted. I expected that I would need help ongoing but Susie has proved that this is not the case

After only 3 sessions with Susie (2 of them even virtual due to Covid-19 restrictions!), I feel stronger in myself. We worked through some very traumatic events that I had kept locked up for many years and I am now able to ban them from my everyday thoughts. Susie was very professional and really has changed my life! I would 100% recommend Susie to anyone who needs to change their methods of dealing with anxiety/stress/panic. Thank you Susie!

Susie is not only a very accomplished therapist, she is also a very kind person with a wealth of life experience. In some ways that can be more important when opening up on painful and difficult subjects. You will find genuine empathy here. I would highly recommend her for anybody who is struggling, you will be very glad you made that first phone call.

From the very start I found myself at ease with Susie. She was easy to talk to and we got on great. Had 4 sessions with her to sort out my insomnia and other problems and with my last session today felt a lot more lighter and stronger than I was 4 weeks ago. She has made me feel more confident in being me. Her attitude to the whole therapy is one of positivity and empathy. I would recommend her to anyone and also go back to see her if it was necessary. Thanks Susie for your time and patience and for helping me through a bad time . This lady is fantastic !!!

Thank you Susie for putting my life back on track.

“Whatever it is, don’t be like me and wait for too long until it spoils your life and the relationships around you.
Be proactive and seek professional help as soon as possible because even if you are somewhat sceptical - as I initially was – I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that truthfully it was the best decision I ever made. Without exaggeration, the sessions I had with Susie K Brooks have totally changed my life for the better.”

The Unconscious is a very clever, yet strange, thing!! myself this afternoon. It was not what I was expecting at all, and neither was the feeling of elation I felt when I left The Garden Room.
I knew the way home like the back of my hand, however, I turned right too early thinking I was heading towards Leeds Castle!! So, new roads, new journey and not one concern that I had no clue where I was - Satnav was off and I was loving the feeling of freedom and adventure!!

Matthew, my client experience with Susie 2021
When I visited Susie to help me through the long standing issues I have kept hidden away since childhood, the things I felt hat helped me the most were/are:
IEMT – Although I felt a little silly at first, I knew that to get the most out of it I needed to really immerse myself in to the therapy and listen to what Susie was saying. As I am quite fascinated with how the whole human body and mind work. I found it very helpful to know how what Susie was doing could help me with the emotional road blocks that had been built up in my mind over many years.
There are lots of analogies I could use to describe how I felt Susie helped me but here’s a couple which I hope will help with peoples understanding, especially if they are sceptical.
It was like Susie was a little librarian in my mind who tidied all the books that had been on the floor or in the wrong place for ages. Once they had been put in the right places, I could see, think and rationalise things much more clearly.
I think I also said to Susie that she was like a mental electrician who had helped me rewire my mind to get all my circuits and mental currents flowing properly again.
NLP – If I’m honest, the therapy and outcomes from NLP and IEMT, to me seemed to merge into one treatment but all I know is that they both worked.
I distinctly remember Susie helping me visualise how I felt about my father and the relationship I have/haven’t had with him during my lifetime. Through Susie talking to me and guiding me, I was able to visualise my thoughts and feelings into a big ball of fire (anger) and by visualising this and making it become something tangible in my mind, I was able to mentally/physically (mantically) (I just made that word up, you know, mentally and physically men-tic-ally) hold this ball of anger and squeeze and squeeze it into a tiny little ball that could no longer control/effect the way I felt about my dad and our relationship. Once it was just a tiny little ball of nothingness, I just threw it into a bin like it was nothing. I can honestly say, the feeling that moment gave me was amazing and made me feel so free.
As well as these, I obviously really liked learning about the conscious and subconscious mind and how we all need to let our conscious minds talk louder than our subconscious minds. Although his seems like common sense now, Susie's teaching combined with therapy really helped me accept this and effectively, I now ‘have a word with myself’ a little more before my subconscious mind started to get in the way.
We also did a hypnosis session to stop me taking sugar in my coffee (two spoons up to 10 times a day) which worked immediately and I haven't taken sugar since. It was a really relaxing experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
